When it rains, it pours. Right?
Last week the New York Jets were hit with the news of young cornerback Dee Milliner missing some time this upcoming season due to an injury.
Now the injury bug has yet again taken a victim but this time, it was no freak accident. According to reports and Jets head coach Todd Bowles, Geno Smith was the victim of an attack. A ‘sucker punch’, as Bowles stated.
Jets starting quarterback Geno Smith will be out 6-10 weeks after suffering a broken jaw in a locker room altercation.

Head coach Todd Bowles announced the news earlier today about Smith likely being out until October, after he was hit by linebacker Ikemefuna “I.K.” Enemkpali in a locker-room fight. Bowles used the words “cold-cocked” and “sucker-punched,” to describe the situation and said Enemkpali has been cut by the team.

For right now, the backup in place to take over is Ryan Fitzpatrick who spent time last season as a member of the Houston Texans. Fitzpatrick had his most success in the NFL as the starting quarterback for the Jets in-state and division rivals, the Buffalo Bills.
With Smith out until at least October, the Jets season is already looking rough before it even gets going.
