A huge reason Gary Neal is coming to the Wizards is for John Wall to have another shooter to kick-out to after he drives through the lane. Throughout the offseason, Washington has shown through players they have acquired that they are hoping to create more spacing and focus on becoming a better shooting team.
When trying to sign Neal, the Wizards sold him on the idea that they want to create more spacing for Wall to work his magic while also increasing the number of three-point shots they would be taking. This as well as an opportunity to play close to home sold him enough to make the move back to the DMV.
“Yea. For sure. That’s something they told me they wanted to do a little bit more of, you know, opening the floor, giving John more space and more room by having shooters on the floor and I think with the additions they have made this summer, you have guys that are three-point shooters and are known for shooter three pointers, so I think at the end of the day, that number will go up just because of the personnel changes and the players that you have on the floor, so I definitely think the number of three pointers will go up.”
The one person who benefits from this acquisition the most is Wall. Wall now has another shooter he can pass out and get those assists numbers at the top of the league once again.
Fans are going to be extremely happen every time they hear “Gary Neal with a DC3!” Neal brings the winning experience needed to get this team past the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
