Gabrielle Union has reportedly joined the cast of Meredith Alloway’s directorial debut, Forbidden Fruits. Union joins a cast that currently includes Lola Tung, Emma Chamberlin, Alexandra Shipp, Victoria Pedretti and Lili Reinhart.
Meredith Alloway pulls from several sources of inspiration for her directorial debut, including Of the Women Came the Beginning of Sin, and Through Her We All Die. From that, Forbidden Fruit creates a world centered around “Apple, who secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store after hours – with fellow fruits Cherry and Fig.” However, things turn sour when a new hire challenges their bond, and Cherry, Fig, and Apple “are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate.”
Forbidden Fruit is currently in production, with IFC Films and Shudder on board to distribute the film in 2026.
