It’s been a long time since 24: Live Another Day aired its last episode on FOX. How long has it been? To put it into context, Barack Obama was still two years away from leaving office, Patrick Mahomes was still in college and Andrew Garfield was still Spider-Man. After all of that time, there are still thoughts that FOX could reboot the series in the near future. While it hasn’t been confirmed, Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn teased the idea during a recent interview.
“There’s still a possibility. [There are] still some discussions with the producers on a take that we have yet to hear,” Thorn told Deadline.
“There [are] some active creative discussions that are happening.”
To be fair, Thorn is not the first person to bring the idea of a 24 revival up in conversation. Previously, 24 Executive Producer Howard Gordon brought the idea up during a recent interview with Deadline as well. He said the idea of a revival is “always percolating,” but it wouldn’t be real until “all [of] the pieces come together.”
One of the key pieces would Kiefer Sutherland, who played the lead role of Jack Bauer for nine seasons. More than one year ago, he told Forbes that he’d be willing to revisit the series as well.
“I’ve always left the door slightly ajar for 24 if someone comes up with a great idea,” he said.
While the focus is currently on 24, Thorn recently said that he’d “love to do more” with shows like Glee or Prison Break.
“We always welcome celebrating our iconic shows and revisiting those with surprising takes and new approaches so, especially in this crowded market,” Thorn said.
“We’re always open to reinventing our best IP with some of our favorite partners.”
