Fox is already in the holiday spirit. The network announced Wednesday that it ordered an adaptation of the Australian series A Moody Christmas. The adaptation has been in the works at Fox for some time but never quite felt right for the network. A Moody Christmas will air on Fox this holiday season as an event series.
The original Australian version follows Dan Moody as he heads home for Christmas. Once there, he is met by all manner of dysfunction and debauchery as every family member seems to be hiding something. The American adaptation will follow in the footsteps of the original as a six-part miniseries. Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg, and Tad Quill will write and executive produce the show for Fox. The creators of the original, Trent O’Donnell and Phil Lloyd, will serve as executive producers alongside Jason Burrows, who served in the same role on the original.
Fox first ordered the series to pilot way back in 2013. However, for one reason or another, the network declined to pick it up until now. This is just the latest “event” series Fox has picked up in recent months. They’ve also got BH90210, a sensationalized reunion of 90210 as well as, What Just Happened??!, a spoof of aftershows hosted by Fred Savage.
