Boxer Felix Verdejo and his alleged accomplice, Luis Antonio Cádiz-Martínez, have been indicted for the murder of Keishla Marlen Rodríguez Ortiz.
Based on testimony from witnesses, an FBI complaint accuses Verdejo of punching Rodríguez in the face and injecting her with a syringe containing an unknown substance. From there, the complaint claims the boxer bound her feet and arms with wires before throwing her off a bridge. After throwing her off of the bridge, Verdejo allegedly shot at her body several times.
“Each defendant committed the offense in an especially cruel, heinous, or depraved manner,” the indictment states.
Cádiz-Martínez has been indicted for allegedly luring the victim to the accused murderer. Meanwhile, Verdejo is charged with murder, kidnapping, carjacking, killing an unborn child and using a firearm in the commission of a crime.
Both Cádiz-Martínez and Verdejo attended court hearings on Thursday. Verdejo and his alleged accomplice are being held without bail. Neither has entered a plea or issued a public statement regarding the matter.
