Critically acclaimed fashion designer Virgil Abloh has reportedly passed away at 41 years old. World-renowned fashion company Louis Vuitton shared the tragic news on Sunday afternoon via social media.
“We are all shocked after this terrible news,” Louis Vuitton Chairman Berard Arnault wrote in the company’s official statement.
“Virgil was not only a genius designer, a visionary, he was also a man with a beautiful soul and great wisdom. The LVMH family joins me in this moment of great sorry, and we are all thinking of his loved ones after the passing of their husband, their father, their brother or their friend.”
According to a statement from Abloh’s Instagram account, the fashion pioneer “battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma.” He was reportedly diagnosed in 2019 and has been undergoing treatment since then.
Abloh leaves behind his wife, Shannon, two children and countless friends and family members.
