Sports betting has become a hot topic online among sports fans and with legalization in more states hopefully on the way it should only heat up moving forward. There are even New Jersey mobile sports betting apps out now that make online sports betting even easier. FanDuel is one of the biggest names in sports betting online and they have greatly benefited from the continued popularity of sports betting. The major sportsbook is not content with just being a location for people to place their sports bets online. Partnerships with sports personalities and content creators have only just begun. It appears this may be the next big sports trend moving forward.
Pat McAfee
Pat McAfee and his podcast have become increasingly more popular over the past few years and for good reason. The former Indianapolis Colts Punter is charming and provides a unique and knowledgeable look into the world of football and other sports. He is also an on-screen personality for the WWE. Growing popularity typically presents opportunities and for FanDuel the match made plenty of sense for both sides.
Pat McAfee left millions of dollars on the table when he retired from the NFL.
He wanted to start creating content & people thought he was insane.
Now, just 4 years later, he has signed a ~$120 million deal with FanDuel, or roughly 8x what he made in the NFL.
That’s legendary.

The McAfee and FanDuel deal was worth $120 million and showcases exactly how committed the sportsbook is to extending its influence across the online sports world. The partnership between the two has been fairly successful in the early stages and should continue to work out for both sides. Podcasts are a smart and lucrative way to get more involved with online sports fans that wish to place some sports bets. The online sportsbook also has a podcast network that helps with some advice on placing bets.
March Madness
College basketball is a chaotic and exciting time for sports fans. With conference tournaments and then the NCAA Tournament, online sports betting will be very active in the months of March and April. Even the NIT Tournament could offer some value for fans that wish to place some bets on the games. January proved the perfect time for FanDuel to strike up another partnership and in more than enough time for March Madness. The online sportsbook announced a partnership with CBS Sports Insider Jon Rothstein.

Jon Rothstein is well known online for his quirky sayings and phrases that the sportsbook now has access to for content. The Insider will also help create some college basketball betting content moving forward. March Madness is right around the corner and the two will surely capitalize on their newly established partnership. The college basketball content should help generate some more excitement heading into the college basketball postseason.
Up Next?
FanDuel has partnerships with sports teams, content creators, and even sports insiders, so what could possibly be next? Rumors are unconfirmed but if it happens it could launch FanDuel to an entirely new level in online sports. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Adrain Wojnarowski as well as The Atheltic’s Shams Charania are reportedly in the last year of their contracts. While the rumors could mean nothing there is speculation that the sportsbook could make offers to acquire one, two, or all three of the sports reporting icons.
This would establish the online sportsbook as the authority of not only sports betting, but also online sports breaking news. Regardless of future plans, online sports betting has surely added a new dynamic to the online sports community.
