As the Milwaukee Bucks continue their quest for the Eastern Conference throne, they were recently dealt a blow on the injury front that could limit their frontcourt depth.
According to a team press release, forward Ersan Ilyasova has suffered a broken nose. Ilyasova had missed Milwaukee’s last couple outings due to what was initially expected to be a nose contusion but is reportedly a fracture.
Milwaukee Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova underwent successful surgery today to repair a fractured nose, which he sustained during practice on Dec. 16. The surgery was performed by Dr. Sachin Pawar of the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin health network under the supervision of Bucks team physician Dr. William Raasch.
Ilyasova will remain out and his status will be updated as appropriate.
A valuable member of Milwaukee’s bench unit, Ersan Ilyasova will now miss some time following his nose surgery. Ilyasova may also be required to wear a protective face mask upon his eventual return.
Currently one of the most complete teams in the NBA, the Bucks will surely miss Ilyasova’s sharpshooting off the bench. Milwaukee is loaded with athletes but not as many shooters as they would probably like, making his absence tougher to overcome.
Ilyasova is currently averaging 7.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game in his 24 outings and two starts thus far this season. With Ilyasova sidelined, D.J. Wilson is expected to continue soaking up extra minutes.
