Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is preparing to roll out his highly anticipated BMF series on Starz in late September. Thus far, the show’s cast includes Wood Harris, Lala Anthony, Serayah Ranee McNeill, Da’Vinchi, Demetrius “Lil’ Meech” Flenory Jr., Snoop Dogg and Russell Hornsby. With an all-star cast already assembled, Jackson added yet another A-list talent to the cast, Marshall “Eminem” Mathers. He will play the role of Rick “White Boy Rick” Wershe Jr.
“Oh yeah, I’m bringing the big dogs out. I couldn’t do a show based in Detroit without incorporating the legend Eminem. [I] got him to play ‘White Boy Rick’ in BMF. This sh*t is out of here,” Jackson tweeted.
Wershe Jr.’s is an internationally known figure. He was recruited by law enforcement as a teen before making history as one of the youngest non-violent offenders to serve more than 30 years behind bars on drug charges. Lee Merritt previously portrayed Wershe Jr. in the film White Boy Rick three years ago. After learning about Mathers III casting, he seemed to approve the decision.
“If anyone can play me, I’m glad it’s him – a homeboy so to speak – a Detroit legend,” Wershe Jr. told FOX 2 in Detroit.
“I’m happy in that sense.”
BMF is the latest addition to Jackson’s growing film and television empire. He is currently rolling out Raising Kanan and he recently finished working on the second season of Ghost. In the coming months, he also plans to begin production on Force. While we wait for Ghost and Force to make their way to the small screen, check out the BMF teaser below.
