Since arriving on the scene in 2012, it has been clear that Elle Varner is one of music’s most talented voices. Six years ago, fans were introduced to the New York University graduate through her break out single, “Only Wanna Give It To You”. Her first major singled led into her debut album, Perfectly Imperfect. Soon thereafter, listeners received stand out tracks like “Refill” and “I Don’t Care”. Over the last few years, Varner has continued to dazzle the audience with her vocal ability and songwriting skill. She’s received a Grammy for her work on Chance The Rapper’s Coloring Book and collaborated with 50 Cent and J. Cole. Simply put, she’s one of the most underappreciated talents of her time and she continues to put out work.
This week, Varner returned to the scene with a brand new single and video called “Loving U Blind”. In her new video, she bears her soul on the love ballad. Varner sings, “I’m driving slow and I hope you don’t mind. Instead of rushing and loving you blind, I’m taking my time.” The black and white visuals do justice to the intimate record and place the viewer right with Varner in a small bar setting.
