
Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James has reportedly landed a new film at Universal. The new film will be based on her latest novel, The Mister. The best-selling novel has remained on the New York Times bestseller list for nine weeks and is available in over 30 countries. Overall, her works as an author have been translated to over 50 languages with 150 million copies sold.
James and Universal have a longstanding relationship. In 2012, former Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley secured the rights to the Fifty Shades of Grey series. Since 2012, they have worked together on three films that earned over a $1.3 billion at the box office backed by soundtracks featuring The Weeknd and Beyoncé.
