Within the next few hours, the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will take the field at State Farm Stadium and kick off Super Bowl LVII. Ahead of the big game, the Philadelphia Eagles have made a few adjustments to the team’s roster.
Philadelphia Eagles Punter Arryn Siposs has been upgraded from injury reserve to active. Siposs has dealt with an ankle injury since his team’s December 11th battle against the New York Giants. In his absence, Brett Kern has spearheaded the team’s punt unit. However, Kern has not had as much success as his predecessor. Through the 2023 NFL postseason, Pro Football Focus has ranked Kern as the third-worst punter among 14 eligible players. Furthermore, Kern ranked 11th in net average with 39.3 yards per punt and 14th with an average hangtime of 3.72 seconds.
Siposs was not punting as well as he would like prior to his injury either. Of 36 eligible punters in the 2022-2023 NFL regular season, he was ranked 33rd by Pro Football Focus. Not to mention, he finished 27th in net average and 26th in average hang time.
Beyond special team changes, the Eagles have made two changes on both sides of the ball. Wide receiver and punt returner Greg Ward and safety Anthony Harris have been elevated from the practice squad. Ward may potentially fill in for fellow wide receiver and return specialist Britain Covey if his questionable status isn’t improved before kickoff. Meanwhile, Harris will keep his main roster status after being upgraded for the NFC Championship.
