LeBron James and the Cavaliers had quite the summer. The praise has been non-stop for James and the Cavs after they mounted a historic comeback in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors and that sentiment continued on Wednesday. Former teammate and current Chicago Bulls star Dwyane Wade had some high remarks for James prior to their game in Cleveland. He believes LeBron’s 2016 NBA Finals performance was the top moment of the King’s career.
Following from ESPN’s Nick Friedell.
“That was special. That was incredible. We’ve seen a lot, we haven’t seen, obviously, teams come back from [being down] 3-1 in the playoffs that much but especially in the Finals. And not having home-court advantage, that was really special what those guys were able to do, obviously led by Bron”.“I think for his career, that moment right there really put him where he probably wanted to be, where everybody thought he was going to be one day when he was deemed as ‘The Chosen One’. It was a defining moment for his career forever. So it was special.”
Wade and James have become close friends over their 14-year careers and continue to be so even after LeBron left Miami in 2014 to return home. The move was questioned by many due to the successes in Miami, but last season’s incredible title run put all of that to rest. Since then, Dwyane Wade also left Miami and went to his hometown Chicago Bulls.
Wade feels his time as James’ teammate was still successful and helped him to grow as not only as a player but as a friend too. He continues to ESPN:
“At the end of the day, the goal was to win championships, and we were able to win two together in four [Finals]. That’s what you play the game for, and I’m happy about that.”
I think it is pretty safe to say that both players are happy where they are.
