Home is where the heart is. Dwyane Wade built one of the most legendary careers in NBA history in a Miami Heat uniform, but something was missing. This Summer, Wade opted to leave Miami and sign with his hometown Chicago Bulls. Though many thought it may not be the best fit with Jimmy Butler already the top dog, there was no question Chicago would find a way to make it work for their city’s own.
As many know, Chicago is a rough area to be raised in. Wade’s rough upbringing in the southside of Chicago has led him to this great career that we’ve been witnessing over the past decade plus. Not only has that environment shaped his game, but Wade has frequently gave back to his community. With Wade’s good friend LeBron James returning home a few years ago, D-Wade decided to follow that blueprint and go back to his roots.
A new commercial from Gatorade provides fans with an insight into what Wade’s upbringing was like. From the arguments his parents had to the gang-related violence he witnessed frequently, Wade has made quite the career coming from a place few make it out from. You can watch the inspiring new Gatorade commercial below.
