Pedroia’s long-time tenure in Boston leaves him with a solid resume as one of the organization’s main pieces of the mid-2000s and on. Pedroia did not play in 2020 and had been dealing with a knee injury since the 2019 season, which prompted him to hang things up. He is 37 years old and collected a nice list of accolades; take a further look at those!
Pedroia was a four-time all-star, four-time Gold Glove winner, and two-time World Series, winner. He also took home a Rookie of the Year award in 2007 as well as the Most Valuable Player award in 2008. Pedroia also had a Silver Slugger award mixed in during the 2008 season.
In his last two years, Pedroia only strung together 9 games played, going just 3-for-31 over the course of these injury-ridden days. The long haul is the focal point for Pedroia; his end of the season was sour. Pedroia logged 1,512 games where he had 1,805 hits, being a career .299/.365/.439 hitter.
Congratulations to Dustin Pedroia on his fabulous 14-year career with the Boston Red Sox organization.
