The Gonzaga Bulldogs learned on Wednesday that talented sophomore big man Drew Timme would be returning for his junior season. Gonzaga is coming off an amazing season where the program only lost one game all season. That one game was the National Championship, but it was still largely considered one of the best single seasons for a college basketball team in the history of the sport. The team has reloaded with five-star talent and now they will be keeping Timme who was likely their best player this past season.
Drew Timme makes it official: He’s heading back to Gonzaga next season. Will be a contender for pre-season POY, if not the favorite.
“I can’t wait to play in front of the best fans in the country again.”

Drew Timme paired with the five-star talent coming in should keep Head Coach Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs in National Championship contention. This past season Timme averaged 19.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game as a sophomore. He should easily compete for the National Player of the Year Award in his third season with the Bulldogs. Timme also paired those amazing numbers with a shooting percentage of 65 percent and a three-point percentage of 28.6 percent.
The ultimate goal for Timme is to get to the professional level of basketball, but after evaluating his odds he decided another year in college was the right move. He was expected to return for his junior year and now he can help his team compete for another Final Four appearance. Gonzaga and Timme will be looking to finish the job this year and win the program’s first National Championship. The big man should continue to dominate the court just like he did last season.
