Draymond Green is in the midst of a playoff run with The Golden State Warriors, but that won’t stop the questions of his upcoming free agency this year.
Green will be a restricted free agent this off-season and will be one of the most sought after players.
The Michigan native has been linked to the Detroit Pistons since the moment he said he would consider playing for his hometown.
Andre Drummond has also stepped up his efforts to recruit the forward to Detroit.
There’s on person who’s not convinced Draymond will leave and that’s his mother Mary Babers-Green.
Joe Rexrode of The Detroit Free Press talked to Green’s mother:
Green is about to be pursued, and paid, and that brings up a question: Would Babers-Green prefer to see her son playing 70 miles away next season, wearing a Detroit Pistons uniform?
“I want him to stay in the place that will be the most productive for his career, and I want what makes him happy,” she said. “The Bay loves Dray, and Dray loves the Bay. I’ve got NBA TV.”
Draymond has progressed so much the past two seasons he’s known as one of the better all around defenders and a high energy guy who feeds off the crowds energy. That’s why I think staying in Golden State is the best scenario for him.
The Warriors fan base is known as one of the diehard fan bases in the NBA, and they love Draymond Green.
I don’t think Golden State would let Green leave as they’d match any offer for him, and Green is going to get paid this summer. Green’s mother was just confirming his love for the bay area.
