The news of Green sitting was first reported by Chris B Haynes of Yahoo Sports:
Draymond Green’s one-game suspension for “conduct detrimental to the team” came after he repeatedly called Kevin Durant a “bitch” in a verbal confrontation between the two stars during the Golden State Warriors’ loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Yahoo Sports first reported Green would be held out of Tuesday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks at Oracle Arena before the Warriors announced the suspension without pay.
Durant called out Green in the huddle for not passing him the ball at the end of regulation in Monday’s game, which prompted Green to fire back at Durant, sources said. The organization is of the belief that Green cut too deep in his disagreement with Durant, sources said.
The argument between Durant and Green began after Green ignored Durant’s call for the ball in overtime, resulting in a Warriors loss.
It started on the court and carried over into the locker room. There was no yelling or physical altercation, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
After that loss to the Clippers, the Warriors are 11-3, first in the Western Conference.
In 12 games this season, Green is averaging 7.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.9 steals per game on .462/.240/.667 shooting splits. Durant is averaging 27.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and a career-high 6.8 assists per game on .543/.412/.915 splits.
