Though the two can be considered rivals in some sense of the word, the mutual respect between Draymond Green and LeBron James has always been present.
The Warriors and Cavs have faced off in the NBA Finals each of the past four seasons and while that certainly raises tensions between the sides on the court, the bond between Green and LeBron has developed past that. Recently on an episode of James’ new HBO show ‘The Shop’, Green says LeBron should openly profess and let the world confidently know that he’s the best player in the NBA.
Though almost everyone across the league knows it, LeBron James has certainly been on the more humble side when it comes to his top dog ranking in the NBA food chain. James has quite clearly been the best player in the NBA for about the last decade or so, but it’s very rare to see him bring it up or boast about it.
Though James plays with a relentless and angry demeanor, he rarely actually talks about himself and his historic achievements. Now a member of a team with a rich history such as the Lakers, James will have to take command even more than he has in the past.
James will now be leading a corps comprised of young players in a daunting Western Conference, making this upcoming campaign undoubtedly one of the toughest of his career. In his 16th NBA season, James may have to be better than we’ve ever seen if his team wants any chance at making a deep playoff push.
