Drake was spotted in Miami recently crashing high schools, buying out supermarkets and giving residents a wonderful dose of Drizzy. But it turns out all of this was part of a bigger idea for a music video for Drizzy’s latest single, “God’s Plan” which sees the rap superstar giving back to the community.
The hit track off the dual release ‘Scary Hours’ EP has without a doubt been the lead single for Drake in 2018 with Diplomatic Immunity being the other half of the two-track EP. “God’s Plan” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart earlier this month, becoming the rapper’s second No. 1 single after “One Dance.” It has currently spent three weeks at the top of the charts.
The video dropped early Friday morning through Drake’s social media accounts and it was officially released on the ‘OVO Sound’ YouTube page. He took the $996,631.90 budget for his video and gave it away to families, schools, charities, and more in the Miami area.
Toronto-based director Karena Evans, a protege of Director X, went along for the ride with Drake as he toured South Beach to give people stacks of money, scholarships to students and even joined Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown to give some people a $10,000 shopping spree.
