The 2023-2024 NBA Season hasn’t kicked off just yet, but a major injury has already occurred on the hardwood. North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum reportedly suffered a leg injury while playing a game of pick-up basketball. The severity of the leg injury is unclear, but sources say it’s “unclear if he will be able to stand” for long periods of time. As a result, it’s unclear if he will participate in the first GOP debate of the upcoming election cycle.
“Wishing Doug Burgum well. Looking forward to seeing him on stage tonight,” U.S. Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy tweeted.
“Hope Doug Burgum gets better, but pick-up basketball is probably the most risky [activity] for grown men who aren’t being paid to play. Too many variables, dealing with people who don’t know how to protect themselves and others,” Exavier Pope of the National Association of Black Journalists added.
Burgum is not the only GOP candidate who may not be on stage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for tonight’s debate. Former President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to turn himself in to Fulton County authorities after being charged with attempting to overturn the most recent presidential election. Additionally, Trump is also reportedly eyeing an interview with Tucker Carlson, but there is no indication as to when that interview would take place.
