One week removed from Election Day, attention has already shifted toward the 2024 election cycle. This evening, Donald Trump confirmed that he will attempt to become President of the United States in 2024.
Donald Trump is no stranger to presidential elections. He represented the Republican Party in 2016 after beating out Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and John Kasich. Ultimately, he surprised many across the United States and the rest of the world when he defeated former Senator Hillary Clinton in November 2016. Four years later, the New York native beat out a crowded Republican field yet again before falling to Joe Biden in the general election.
The 2024 presidential election will be eventful, to say the least. Within the Republican Party, Donald Trump will face a new field of contenders that could include Ron DeSantis, Glenn Youngkin, Greg Abbott and Liz Cheney. His former running mate, Mike Pence, has also been floated as a potential candidate. Meanwhile, Joe Biden appears to be the Democratic Party’s leading candidate. However, Gretchen Whitmer, Gavin Newsom, Pete Buttigieg and Kamala Harris are also potential threats to Biden’s second term.
