This offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles appeared to be purging their organization of any acquisitions made last year by Chip Kelly. Their first order of business, before sending DeMarco Murray to the Tennessee Titans, was to get rid of Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell.
Alonso was the main acquisition in the Eagles deal to move LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills but they signed Maxwell to a huge contract last year to pry him away from the Seattle Seahawks and many were confused by the move given the amount of money the Eagles gave him.
One year later and the Eagles were all but done with a deal to send the duo out of town but now it appears that other team involved is pumping the breaks on the move. The Dolphins are close to pulling out of the deal that hasn’t officially been processed. In return, Miami was supposed to send the Eagles a fourth round pick and the rights to swap picks in the 2016 draft with the Dolphins moving from their eighth pick to the Eagles for their 13th pick.
