The Los Angeles Clippers Head Coach Doc Rivers has made multiple attempts to add depth in the past couple seasons which have back fired with guys like Jordan Farmar, Hedo Turkoglu, Ekpe Udoh, and Spencer Hawes.
Rivers had interest in Veteran Center and former Celtic Kendrick Perkins before Cleveland swooped in and received verbal commitment from the 11 year veteran.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst Doc Rivers still tried to sway Perkins into joining The Clippers who desperately need some help at Center after Spencer Hawes and Ekpe Udoh have not worked out as the team has anticipated.
Rivers appearntly called Perkins and spoke for 45 minutes about the possibility of the two reuniting in Los Angeles, but couldn’t get Perkins to change his mind.
It’s obvious that Perkins has nothing but respect for Rivers if he gave him the time of day to talk about the situation. Rivers knows what it takes to win a championship and he knows this roster is missing a little something that Perkins does bring to the table.
Perkins has played in 3 games for Cleveland but is getting caught up to speed with plays and eventually as we get closer to the playoffs he should play a role off the bench for Cleveland.
