In many ways, it doesn’t feel real to say that DMX is no longer here with us all. For more than two decades, he shared his happiness, pain, success, failures, laughter and so much more with the world. It is hard to say that there has been a more vulnerable act in Hip-Hop before, during or after DMX’s run. Therefore, his passing has hit the world of music beyond in a manner that is hard to quantify.
In the weeks since his untimely passing, his voice and persona has resurfaced in a number of areas. His deep, raspy, unique vocals are showcased each and every week during the opening scenes of EPIX’s Godfather of Harlem starring Forest Whitaker. Elsewhere, his personality shines through in TV One’s Uncensored look into the life of Earl Simmons. Not to mention, his funeral services were broadcasted online to thousands of fans as others stood outside the Barclays Center during the memorial service.
Continuing his legacy, DMX’s friends and family are preparing to release his first posthumous album, Exodus. His 13-track project is set to feature Jay-Z, Nas, Alicia Keys, Usher, Swizz Beatz and several others. It is set to debut on Friday, May 28, but before it arrives there is something you should watch. Here is a short trailer for the upcoming album.
