DJ D-Nice aligns his Instagram party-hosting skills with Michelle Obama’s nonprofit organization to boost voter registration.
As we remain under social isolation mandates, society has turned to digital fellowship instead of Saturday nights at the bar. On March 21, 2020, DJ D-Nice launched a party on Instagram live that over 100k people attended from their remote locations. People such as Rihanna, Oprah and even presidential candidates Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders all tuned in from their accounts as DJ D-Nice ran through family cook-out favorites.
The influence of the DJ set has elevated the platform from just a carefree fun to an internet party with a purpose. DJ D-Nice collaborated with Michelle Obama’s nonprofit ‘When We All Vote‘ to host ‘Couch Party: A Voter Registration Set.’ On Wednesday, March 24, 2020 at 6:30PM ET, DJ D-Nice will DJ a set while volunteers text eligible voters to assist in registering them to vote.
This initiative is one of several where celebrities are putting their platforms to good use during the COVID-19 pandemic. Meek Mill’s organization REFORM Alliance continues to push for coronavirus safety plans in the prison system. Kanye West has donated to local charities in Los Angeles providing meals during the pandemic.
