Gunna, Coco Jones, BLXST, Leon Thomas and many other artists are heading to Washington, D.C. during Howard University’s 100th Homecoming Celebration. However, it’s unclear who will take the Yardfest stage on Friday, October 18. Vice President Kamala Harris is currently touring historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), but it’s unclear when she’ll step foot on her alma mater’s campus. With that said, all is not uncertain.
The legendary DJ D-Nice will return to The Mecca for the institution’s 100th homecoming celebration and he’s not coming alone. On Friday, October 18, he Harlem-born icon will host Club Quarantine on The Yard. Sponsored by Gillette, the three-hour event will feature a litany of special guests, including DJ Quicksilva, DJ SNS, Ruff Endz, Sunshine Anderson, Letoya Luckett and Carl Thomas.
Club Quarantine is just one part of the celebration taking place through Washington, D.C. and the surrounding areas. Gunna is set to headline at The Anthem and BLXST is bringing his tour to The Fillmore Silver Spring. Not to mention, former NFL standout Eddie George is bringing the Tennessee State University Tigers to the nation’s capital for a showdown with the Bison.
“We are now 100 years later and the concept of homecoming still remains the same; it is the day that our alums and friends of Howard are able to come back home and get to see not only how their home has grown, but also look at the new babies that have been birthed,” Andrew Rivers, director of protocol and events, told the university’s student newspaper, The Hilltop.
Club Quarantine is set to bring current students, recent graduates, valued alumni and community members together beginning 12 PM and running until 3 PM EST.
Remember when DJ D-Nice powered us through quarantine with his incredible sets?!
