Disney is reportedly in the early stages of developing a sequel to their recently released film, Cruella. Variety reports that director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara are in talks to return for the second film. However, it is unclear if lead actress Emma Stone will return if the sequel does come to fruition.
Cruella is currently entering its second weekend of action at the box office. Thus far, the Disney film has earned $32.4 million domestically and nearly $50 million worldwide.
“We are very pleased with ‘Cruella’s’ box office success, in conjunction with its strong Disney Plus Premier Access performance to date,” Disney said about the film’s success thus far.
“The film has been incredibly well received by audiences around the world, with a 97% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes in addition to A’s in every demographic from CinemaScore on opening weekend, ranking it among the most popular of our live-action reimaginings. We look forward to a long run as audiences continue to enjoy this fantastic film.”
