Disney has reinstated James Gunn to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after being fired last July. Gunn was let go by Disney last summer because of inappropriate comments he made on Twitter about pedophilia and rape. Following the incident, Gunn signed on with Warner Bros. and DC Comics to direct Suicide Squad II. Given the competitive relationship between Marvel Entertainment and DC Comics, it appeared that Gunn’s latest move had signaled the end of any relationship between himself and Marvel Entertainment. However, things often change in Hollywood.

Disney’s Marvel Entertainment has agreed to reinstate Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn stated, “I am tremendously grateful to every person out there who has supported me over the past few months.” He later added, “I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be.”
Gunn will continue to direct the upcoming Suicide Squad film that is rumored to be bringing on Idris Elba. Afterwards, Gunn will begin production for the next Guardians of the Galaxy film that is expected to be released in 2021. In the meantime, you can check out the latest trailer for the next big Marvel film, Avengers: Endgame.
