Super middleweight Diego Pacheco made the jump from prospect to contender on Saturday evening in the United Kingdom as he stopped Jack Cullen in the fourth round. With the explosive victory, Pacheco improves his pro resume to 18-0 with 15 knockouts while Cullen suffers the third loss of his pro career.
“He’s beautifully poised to do great things in boxing,” Pacheco’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, said after the fight.
“I’m so excited for the future. Remember this moment, because I think you will see this man ruling the 168-pound division.”
The Los Angeles product was dominant throughout the four-round demolition. He hurt Cullen in the third round with two right-hand uppercuts. One round later, he dropped his opponent with a left hand to the body. Cullen rose to his feet before the referee finished the count, but Pacheco quickly pounced on his opponent and finished the job.
At 22 years old, the Los Angeles native is poised to spring to the top of the division in the coming years.
“I’m really happy with my performance. It was my job to deliver and I think I did that tonight,” he said after the fight.
“I feel ready for anyone in my division and anybody in boxing. I’m super excited for the future and I’m ready for whatever is next.”
