The Sacramento Kings have been in the news quite often lately, and not for anything positive this one might be the cherry on top.
The Kings went 29-53 last season a year which had to be horrid to watch for any Kings fan after the team has gone 85-246 in owner Vivek Ranadive’s tenure.
Last year Ranadive wanted to mix things up a little last season if anyone recalls by playing 4-on-5 basketball by having a cherry picker on the other end.
Grantland’s Zach Lowe interviewed former Sacramento Kings coach now Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone about the situation.
“It came up. I was approached. I’m a defensive guy, and I know you can’t defend well if you only have four guys out there.”
I’d say this is shocking, but it’s the Kings.
Now here’s the video of the horrid attempt at 4-On-5 basketball last season.
In Lowe’s piece it seems like the pairing of Michael Malone and the Kings front office was not a good one, and it’s best for Malone’s career that the two went their separate ways.
Malone has worked his way through the NBA ranks, and seems to have the respect of quite a few of his colleagues around the league. Hopefully Malone can find success in another dysfunctional franchise in Denver to get things turned around.
