Nearly ten years after its finale, Dexter will return to Showtime for another season. However, there will be a few changes. As indicated by Showtime, the reboot will acknowledge that nearly a decade has passed and it won’t necessarily pick up on the same themes and storylines that the original series did.
“It was important that this not be Dexter season 9,” former Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips said during a panel at Comic-Con in San Diego, California this weekend.
“We wanted to acknowledge that nearly 10 years have passed and we pick up with Dexter being in another place far away from Miami.”
While there will be a few alterations to the show, Michael C. Hall will still reprise the role of Dexter and Marcos Siega and Scott Reynolds will return as executive producers. The reunited group will debut their work on November 7 on Showtime.
“Set 10 years after Dexter went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the series finds him living under an assumed name in the small town of Iron Lake, New York. Dexter may be embracing his new life, but in the wake of unexpected events in this close-knit community, his Dark Passenger beckons,” the show’s description reads.
