Grey is becoming increasingly popular in the world of interior design. It is now a mainstream color and you will see a lot of grey in interior décor catalogs and in many houses. You will especially see in grey in many bedrooms. It adds personality to the bedroom in many ways that are difficult to replicate.

Therefore, if you decide to go for a grey themed bedroom, you will be part of a significant trend. Better yet, you can decorate and design the bedroom in an infinite number of ways. The following are design and décor tips for a grey themed bedroom:

Use Different Shades

Gray is a unique color in that it has so many shades. The fact that a simple combination of white and black, two primary colors, can produce a wide array of shades is very intriguing. If you are decorating or designing a grey themed bedroom, you can choose to use a consistent shade of grey in the entire room. However, it usually makes the room look bland rather than look elegant.

The other option is to use different shades of grey. They go very well together and is a great choice for a bedroom. You should focus the lighter shades on places that receive a lot of light and the darker shades for those that don’t. The lighter shades of grey will light up the room during the day whereas the darker shades will ensure that the room is dark at night.

Embrace Wood

If you decide to have a grey themed bedroom, then you should try adding more wooden elements to your bedroom if you don’t already have them. Grey and wood go very well together. Grey is a relatively neutral color that you can match with many other colors and materials. However, the combination of grey and wood adds a level of elegance and sophistication to the bedroom.

Therefore, if you can replace any plastic or carbon fiber fixtures and furnishings in your bedroom, you should do it. The same goes for the floors so if you have tiled floors for example, you may be better suited with wooden floors. Wood paneling in particular looks great either with grey items or painted grey. It provides the ideal backdrop for an elegant master bedroom.

Embrace Nature

When most people think of nature, they automatically think of the color green. However, if you pay attention, you will realize that there is a lot of grey in nature.
Therefore, if you want to have a grey themed bedroom, you can include various natural elements in there. That may include using paint or wallpaper to add grey natural items like rocks or trees that will add a natural element to your room.
It is a great feeling to bring the outdoors into your bedroom. It can make the decor of your bedroom very unique particularly when it is colored grey.

Use Grey Slate Flooring

The floor is a crucial yet often ignored part of bedroom décor. When designing and decorating a grey themed bedroom, you should always keep the floor in mind. A fantastic idea in this regard is to use grey slate flooring. They will often provide a superb contrast with accentuated grey walls, particularly pale grey ones.

If your walls are dark grey, then you should use a lighter shade of grey on the floor. Vice versa also works. The key is to achieve a balance between the two shades so that one is not entirely dominating the other.

Matching Bedding

The most important part of your bedroom and what ties everything together is the bed. The bed will be an important aspect of the design if you choose a grey themed bedroom. It is especially so of the bedding which should match the grey décor. You can find bedding ideas for such a grey themed room at Vision Bedding. The bedding can also contrast the grey color if you want. Linen is a material for bedding in particular that really compliments a grey themed bedroom. The same goes for silk bedding but it is quite expensive. The bedding should offer a backdrop for other elements in the room.

Metallic Accessories

The natural color of most of the metals used in our homes is grey. Therefore, using more metal in your bedroom is a great design and decoration tip.

Some of the modifications may be minor just as simply exchanging wooden and plastic fixtures like windows and knobs with metal. Others will be large such as getting a metal bed or installing metallic doors in your bedroom.
Metallic accessories make your room look more sophisticated as they are often more elegant. Metal has benefits when compared to other materials which you should also consider.

Art

The artwork you include in your bedroom will have a significant impact on the décor. Other than your bed, the pieces of art in your bedroom are probably the most prominent features of the room.

Therefore, when choosing art to put up in your room, you should choose pieces that complement the grey theme. Grey colored art is the obvious choice in this regard.
However, there are many pieces of art that could be well matched to a grey themed bedroom. You should also place the art in areas that make the grey theme more prominent.

Use Grey to Accentuate Original Features

Every room in the house has certain original or prominent features including your bedroom. When designing a grey themed bedroom, you should use grey to accentuate the original features of your bedroom.

A strong grey color, in particular, accentuates the eccentric features of the bedroom. That may include the finishing, skirting, and aspects of the architecture among others. Therefore, you should take account of your room and decide which are its original and most conspicuous features. Once you do, adding the grey theme to your bedroom will be an enriching endeavor.

To conclude, there are many ways that you can design and decorate a grey themed room. Grey is an incredible color that can bring out the best features of your bedroom. If you apply it correctly to your bedroom, you should have an elegant bedroom that you can enjoy.
