Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is not interested in joining the Trump campaign. During an appearance on Wisconsin Right Now, the Florida Governor show down the idea of becoming the running mate of former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
“I don’t think so. I’m not a No. 2 guy,” he answered when asked if he’d serve as Trump’s running mate in the upcoming election.
From there, the conversation turned toward his potential running mate. Similarly, he shot down any discussion of a potential running mate at this point in time,
“It’s a little bit presumptuous to be doing that at this stage,” he explained.
“I’m here to win the early primaries, and that’s what we’ve got to do first.”
The governor’s political adversary has shot out to an early lead against a crowded field of candidates. The Morning Consult puts the former President up 39 points heading into next month’s debate. Similarly, National Research puts Trump 23 points ahead of DeSantis at this point in the election cycle. Still, the Morning Consult lists President Joe Biden as a one-point favorite against Donald Trump while the President is projected as a five-point favorite against DeSantis in a general election.
