It still feels weird to see Derrick Rose donning a New York Knicks no. 25 jersey in place of his old no. 1 Chicago Bulls jersey. Rose only has one year left on his contract, but he hopes to stick around for longer than that one year, Rose tells Peter Walsh of SLAM Online:
I’m under a one-year contract so of course I want to play the rest of my life here. But it takes time, it takes patience to figure out how every one is going to fit, if it is going to fit and going from there.
I’m assuming that Rose meant to say career, not life. Unless he plans on having an abnormally short life or an extraordinarily long career.
Anyways, the whole “Super Team” thing hasn’t happened for the Knicks. Joakim Noah has been pretty terrible. Derrick Rose hasn’t really been substantially better than he was in his last season in Chicago. Carmelo Anthony is still mostly Carmelo, for better or worse. Kristaps Porzingis is awesome, but one unicorn can’t do it all by himself.
The Knicks are currently 9-9, and Rose is averaging 16.4 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game. He’s shooting 43.7% from the floor, and 26.7% from long range.
