In early June, former NBA player and coach Derek Fisher flipped his car, with his girlfriend Gloria Govan in the passenger seat. Miraculously, both avoided serious injury. Fisher has been charged with two counts of driving under the influence, per TMZ:
Derek Fisher has been formally charged with 2 counts of DUI stemming from his June 4 crash on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles … TMZ Sports has learned.
…
If convicted on both counts of DUI, Fisher faces up to 6 months in jail — but since it’s his first offense, he most likely won’t spend a single minute behind bars. Instead, he’ll probably get probation, fines and orders to complete an alcohol education class.
It feels like Derek Fisher’s presence in the news has been due to mainly negative things in the past couple of years. First, he was attacked by Matt Barnes in October of 2015. Four months later, he was fired from his head coaching position with the New York Knicks. Then, in early 2017, his home was burgled of over $300,000 in jewelry, including all five of his NBA championship rings.
Now, this. It seems like Derek Fisher’s life could be going better.
