With the season still barely over 20 games in, we’ve already seen some surprising names be involved in trade talks. Milwaukee Bucks guard Eric Bledsoe has already found a new home and it appears that he won’t be the last star to relocate this season. Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan has heard his name come up in trade talks time and time again and now, those rumors seem to be gaining some serious steam.
There’s already a myriad of NBA teams interested in the skyscraping big man and it appears Jordan knows his future may not lie in LA. Not only is a possible trade looming, but Jordan’s upcoming free agency is on the horizon as well.
With potential career-altering moves now in the cards for Jordan, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the 7-footer has hired an agent for the first time in over 2 years:
After two years without an agent, LA Clippers All-Star center DeAndre Jordan has hired new representation with trade discussions and free agency on his immediate horizon, league sources told ESPN.
Jordan, 29, has signed with Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management, sources said, who will help navigate the processes expected to determine Jordan’s future with the Clippers.
DeAndre Jordan opted to sign with Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management, a company that rosters plenty of high-profile athletes. With so much uncertainty around his future, it behooved Jordan to find representation sooner rather than later.
Plenty of teams are clamoring for the services of DeAndre Jordan and why not? Even though the departure of Chris Paul has negatively altered his scoring numbers slightly, the center isn’t out there for his offensive prowess anyways. It’s the world-class job Jordan does around and above the rim that makes him one of the premier interior presences today.
With the Clippers clearly headed for the lottery and hit hard by the injury bug, LA could ship Jordan, 29, away if the right package is on the table. On the season, Jordan is doing his typical two-way work and is averaging a nightly double-double of 10.9 points per game coupled with 13.9 rebounds.
