R&B and Soul are alive and well in the city of New York.
From legends like Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys to emerging talents like Nali, Miles Caton, and #FirstToTheAux alum sectiontoo, the concrete-laiden streets of the Big Apple are littered with talent. This Friday, a new vocalist from the city of dreams added his name (and sound) to the landscape with a new project. His name is Day Lee, and his latest EP, What Once Was Lost.
Day Lee’s new release is a concise eight-track, 20-minute deep display of unfiltered emotion, ranging from heartbreak to lust. Along the way, the New York-based vocalist pairs warm, vintage soundscapes with raw, trap soul-infused vocal production. Blending the passion of R&B with new-school influences, he ultimately finds a sound that would make his late mentor, PnB Rock, proud.
What Once Was Lost is a welcome introduction for the Lower East Side singer and songwriter. In a year full of incredible R&B releases, Day Lee’s latest project is a promising sign for what’s to come within the next generation of R&B talent.
