The fall release schedule is filling up quickly. Next week, Ari Lennox and John Legend will deliver new projects. At the end of the month, Kid Cudi and Freddie Gibbs will deliver new music. Not to mention, Gorillaz have new music on the way while Bryson Tiller continues to tease the rollout of his fourth studio album. Now, another artist has set a fall release date for their forthcoming body of work. Dawn Richard has announced that her latest album, Pigments, will arrive on October 21, 2022.
Serving as the second album under her deal with Merge Records, Pigments is described as having a “contemporary classical and jazz sound rather than a fusion of R&B and electronic heard in previous works.” Further reporting from Antwane Folk of Rated R&B also reveals that she worked with Stuart Bogie, Mike Haldeman, Malcolm Parson and Dave Scalia to create a body of work that celebrates her father.
“I felt like the tools that I and other people like me were dealt weren’t shiny. Yet we still painted these beautiful pictures. This album is what it means to be a dreamer and finally reach a place where you’ve decided to love the pigments that you have,” Dawn Richard said about Pigments, according to Rated R&B.
“The point is that we’re going through the same thing in a different way. No matter what walks of life we come from, the story can be similar.”
