Davide Moretti has been a key member of the Texas Tech rotation for the past two seasons after playing just 12 minutes a game as a freshman. Moretti was a starter on the Red Raiders 2019 Final Four team as a sophomore. After originally being expected to return for his senior season next year he has decided to return to Italy to play professionally.
The decision comes when most players are usually deciding between staying in the NBA draft or returning in a normal year. But this year has been anything but normal, as the NBA draft is up in the air. Rumors of Moretti returning to his home in Italy to play next season have been out there for a few weeks. Chris Beard has been hard at work recruiting in the time too including his pursuit of Georgetown transfer Mac McClung.
In three seasons at Texas Tech, Davide Moretti finished…
– 8th in career 3-pointers made and percentage (165 and 39.7%)
– 1st in career and single season free throw percentage (92.4% in 2018-19, 90.6% for career)Ended up just 31 points short of 1,000 for his career. pic.twitter.com/41JHsUNMSM

Chris Beard is bringing in a top 10 recruiting class to supplement the loss of Moretti and Jahmi’us Ramsey. Nimari Burnett is their top recruit who ranks in the top 35 in the 2020 class.
