NBA coaches have had less turnover the last few years, but that does not mean that changes are not potentially around the corner. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski there are two hot names on the list of potential coaches: David Fizdale and Monty Williams.
Fizdale was fired by the Grizzlies earlier this season. The move was met with harsh criticism from players around the NBA. None of that criticism is coming from Marc Gasol, however, as he reportedly did not have a strong coach with Fizdale.
Monty Williams most recently was a head coach with the New Orleans Pelicans. He then spent time with the Oklahoma City Thunder as an assistant, but dealt with the loss of his wife and understandably left the team. Since then, he has spent time with the San Antonio Spurs front office.
The NBA has seen two coaches fired so far this season, the aforementioned Fizdale and former Suns’ coach Earl Watson. Devin Booker has made his opinion on the coaching situation known, but Phoenix would be wise to look at an experienced coach like Fizdale or Williams.
