Dave Chappelle’s new stand up special for Netflix is set to debut on New Year’s Eve. The prolific comedian has been working with Netflix for a little more than a year and has already delivered two stand-up specials for the streaming giant. Dave Chappelle is said to be earning around $20 million per special and signed a deal to deliver 3 specials overall for Netflix. With the release of ‘equanimity’ on New Year’s Eve, his original deal will be officially completed.
There’s no word yet on if he’ll re-up for more specials, but with Netflix making as big of a comedy push as they are right now it’s hard to believe that he won’t be offered one. Netflix recently inked Chris Rock to a two special deal that’s said to be worth $40 million. As well as inking a deal to bring David Letterman out of retirement to host a new variety/news show for the streaming giant. Lastly, Netflix also inked Jerry Seinfeld to a deal that’s rumored to be worth more than $100 million. Hopefully, Chappelle is open to creating more content for the network because the world of comedy is truly a better place when Dave Chappelle is playing an active role in it.
We’ve attached the trailer for ‘equanimity’ below.
