Darrell Arthur has spent the last 3 years of his career with the Denver Nuggets adding a bit of a veteran presence to a very youthful team. Now he has opted out of his contract to become a free agent. Arthur enjoyed a bit of an improvement this year, averaging 7.5 points, 5 rebounds for the Nuggets, and playing in 70 games.
According to Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times:
Darrell Arthur has officially opted out of his contract w/Nuggets – I have a mess of updates to make – he’s one https://t.co/O1iZ2R9cOU

With Arthur potentially not returning to the Nuggets, that means his $3.1 million will not come into play next year for them. Darrell Arthur is most likely trying to get his share of the salary cap increase that is coming in the 2016-2017 NBA season. There’s no real indication as to what Arthur will be expecting going into next season but teams who don’t have size in their front court will definitely be interested in the 6’10 power forward who can stretch the floor with his mid range jumper.
