Dante Exum has seen his young NBA career get derailed twice in only four seasons with the Utah Jazz. After a nice rookie season, an ACL injury suffered in international play sidelined him for the entire 2015-16. He bounced back in 2016-17, made his NBA playoffs debut and showed some flashes of a solid guard option for the Jazz. The man Utah picked with the fifth overall pick in 2014 appeared to start coming into his own. Until another injury shut him down for what was supposed to be the entire 2017-18 season.
He separated his AC joint in his shoulder during a preseason game and it was more bad news for the Australian guard. He’s coming up on a contract decision and the Jazz have to make a tough one considering the emergence of Donovan Mitchell. It looks like Utah has their backcourt of the future, and present, with Ricky Rubio and Donovan Mitchell which puts hopes of an Exum breakthrough on the backburner for some Utah fans.
But now it appears we’ll get to see Exum back on the court before the season ends. He was recently sent down and recalled to the NBA G League Salt Lake City Stars and now he’s ready for a comeback.
The team announced his return on their Twitter account. He’s set to make his season debut on Thursday night against the Phoenix Suns.
