New Laker rookie D’Angelo Russell has yet to play his first official game in the NBA but is causing himself plenty of attention, recently by imitating his teammate Kobe Bryant. Russell has been open about his admiration for Kobe growing up, but on Thursday he took to Twitter and bursted an opinion on the greatest of all time, and it wasn’t Kobe.
Honestly Tracy McGrady might have been the GOAT!

The “might have been” kept Russell from going all the way with this claim. It reads as impulsive and maybe even hyperbolic, but for those of us who truly remember Tracy McGrady in his prime, lets not forget the hint of truth that lies in Russell’s tweet. All it takes is a few good YouTube videos for someone to agree with Russell on this one.
What makes it interesting, of course, is knowing how Russell feels about his now teammate, Kobe Bryant. Would Kobe feel offended by this? I’d say no. He faced T-Mac up close and he was unlike any scorer we’ve ever seen. Kobe has even cited McGrady as the toughest player he’s ever guarded. So whether or not D’Angelo Russell was caught in the moment, being sarcastic, or completely serious, there is absolutely an argument that exists for his claim.
