
Before the NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers shocked everyone by trading away point guard D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Brooklyn Nets for Brook Lopez and the 27th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Last Wednesday, Russell joined ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on The Woj Pod to discuss his summer and his thoughts on joining the Nets. One specific thing Russell got into was comparing the structure of the Lakers to the Nets and his optimism for the change.

“Way different,” Russell said of the way the Nets handle their players. “The freedom, whatever it may be, I just think in LA it’s not like college. The way that Brooklyn kind of runs things is more college-y, and you have a schedule laid out every day, every time, and you know what it is.
“LA is kinda like that but it’s way different. I don’t want to downgrade any organization or anything but it’s just completely different,” Russell said.
