Falcons tailback Devonta Freeman had some controversy around him when his agent discussed Freeman’s contract just days prior to Super Bowl 51. Even though Freeman is under contract next season, his agent is making it a priority to get Devonta paid this offseason. Falcons head coach Dan Quinn claims he isn’t worried about the contract talks at this point.
“That connection that Free has with his offensive teammates is so strong, I do realize that a clip came out about that,” Quinn said, via the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “That’s a great topic for a week from today. Honestly, the team is so focused on this game, this matchup that it’s not a distraction.”
Let’s hope for Atlanta’s sake that this doesn’t become a distraction heading into the biggest game of the Falcons franchise history. A common theme to this postseason has been distractions. Whether you talk about Aaron Rodgers family, Odell Beckham’s trip to Miami, or Antonio Brown’s Facebook live fiasco; it seems like it played a role at some point. The Falcons are still looking for their first Super Bowl trophy.
