The Portland Trail Blazers went from good team to tank team in a space of a summer. He is the only starter left from last season. LaMarcus Aldridge is in San Antonio, Nicolas Batum is in Charlotte, Robin Lopez is playing for the Knicks and Wes Matthews is playing down in the Big D.
Leaving Damian Lillard to be the leader of nothing, but he’s not one for leadership, he wants the focus to be on the team and not solely on him.
He’d prefer the focus be on team.
“I’m not too interested in all this leadership talk to be honest with you. It’s kind of funny that it has become the story,” he said. “Everything that we’re doing is going to be based on the group. I’m not going to be the hero.”
I get what he’s saying. But some people will read that and get it misconstrued, thinking that he’s not cut out to be an outright leader. Saying that he needs somebody to help him dominate.
But the silver lining in all this is that we finally get to see what CJ McCollum is all about. I’ve wanted this guy to get legit minutes and he’ll finally get it. Watch him and Lillard work.
