Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott allegedly hosted a party at his house that included up to 30 people, on of which was teammate Ezekiel Elliott. If true, the party would violate an order given by Texas governor Greg Abbott in the wake of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Like much of the country, Texas is under a stay-at-home order from the governor. Under the order, gatherings are supposed to be limited to 10 or fewer people. But that supposedly didn’t stop Prescott from throwing a fairly big, catered party to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday. TMZ initially reported the event. Their report included that area police were called to Prescott’s home, but that no citations were given, but the quarterback (and party) were given a verbal warning to disperse.

Representatives for Prescott have disputed parts of the TMZ report, saying the picture of the table setting was from the restaurant that catered the party. Not from the site of the party as TMZ made it seem.
Further, the 26-year-old quarterback issued a statement to USA Today Sports, saying, in part, that fewer than 10 people were at the gathering:

All of this comes as Prescott and the Cowboys are still working on a contract extension that will keep the signal-caller in Dallas for years to come. As it stands, the sides have agreed to a one-year deal worth around $33 million. That came as the Cowboys placed the franchise tag on their quarterback and Prescott subsequently signed it. But that isn’t expected to deter the sides from continuing to work on a longer extension that could be in the neighborhood of $100 million over the life of the pact.
Prescott is entering his fifth NFL season since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State.
He was thrust into the starting quarterback spot after an injury to then-starting QB Tony Romo knocked the incumbent starter out for the season. Prescott has since gone on to throw for 15,778 yards on a 65.8 completion percentage with 97 touchdowns against 36 interceptions.
